Details of a secret operation of the American CIA in the Himalayan mountains 60 years ago were revealed when an operation was carried out by the American intelligence agency during the Cold War era.
According to the American newspaper, in 1965, the CIA, together with Indian mountaineers, tried to install a plutonium-powered spy device on the peak of Nanda Devi to monitor China’s nuclear program.
According to the report, the CIA had to abandon the mission due to an avalanche on the peak of the mountain, and when the team returned the next year, the device had been buried in an avalanche, which could not be found to this day.
According to the American newspaper, the revelation of the CIA’s secret operation on Indian soil in 1978 caused intense public outrage in India.
According to the report, even today, Indian politicians and environmental activists are demanding that the nuclear device buried under Nanda Devi be found and should be safely removed, which poses a threat to the environment and security.
