ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has released new instructions designed to simplify and clarify the procedure, for updating the current address on a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) for citizens.

NADRA has streamlined the process, for changing addresses to assist residents in maintaining current official records.

A NADRA spokesperson mentioned that applicants are required to submit least one legitimate proof of address to change their residence information. Valid documents consist of electricity, gas or water bills that are registered in the name of the parents, spouse or the applicant’s own home.

Alternative valid documents can be a domicile certificate, property ownership documents, a housing society allotment letter or a certified rental agreement.

The NADRA personnel confirmed that citizens can visit any NADRA Registration Center across the country with the required documents. The staff will help them with the new procedure. The agency pointed out that the whole process has been simplified and made clear in order to minimize the number of delays and inconveniences.

Alongside its, in-person offerings NADRA currently permits citizens to file address change applications via the Pak-ID mobile app. Users have the ability to upload documents and residence verification straight through the app greatly minimizing the necessity of visiting the office.

Authorities highlighted the significance of maintaining the address on the CNIC as it is crucial, for utilizing government services, banking, passport issuance, electoral records and various other legal procedures.

NADRA advised all citizens to update their records promptly to avoid complications in official procedures in the future.
