PESHAWAR: A key terrorist belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Intikhab Alam group was killed in a joint operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Mardan Region and Nowshera Police. This operation took place during an intelligence-based search and strike mission in the Ghaibana Baba area, under the jurisdiction of Nizampur police station.

The deceased terrorist has been identified as Hammad Zahir, son of Zahir Badshah, a resident of Kahi Nizampur. He was wanted for serious offences, including target killings, murder, attempted murder, and extortion involving Constable Maqsood. According to a police spokesperson, Hammad was firing on the police party with automatic weapons when he was killed in the exchange of gunfire, while his accomplices managed to escape.

Police recovered a Kalashnikov, two magazines, and cartridges from the scene. Following the instructions of IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, it has been announced that operations against terrorists will be intensified.
