HAFIZABAD: As many as seven persons including five children were killed in a tragic incident occurred in the town of Sukheke located in the tehsil of Pindi Bhattian of Hafizabad district as the roof of an academy collapsed.
According to the rescue official report, the heartbreaking incident happened when the children were in class within a room of the academy, suddenly the roof collapsed, burying all inside.
Soon after the incident, the rescue teams immediately reached the spot and started removing the rubble in the hope of saving lives.
Officials confirmed that five children were among the deceased including two brothers identified as Abdul Rehman and Umar. The other three children were identified as Rohan, Rehan, and Sabeeha Fatima. All of them were aged between 5 and 10. One adult woman, Sarwar Bibi, was also killed in the horrific incident.
Following the incident, the locals expressed displeasure over the sad incident. They questioned the safety of structures within private education institutions operating within the Hafizabad district. There are questions being asked regarding the state of the building as well as whether it had been inspected or certified by any relevant organs.

The district administration has initiated an inquiry into the reason behind the roof collapse of the academy. The local government, in the meantime, has assured compensation to the victims’ families.
