ISLAMABAD: The way we start our day impacts kidney health to a large extent as it is the habit of using a certain substance which is very common that may lead to a higher risk of kidney problems in the long run. Experts maintain that what we do immediately after waking up can leave a pretty strong impression on these organs.
While we sleep, kidneys essentially perform a detox, they not only regulate hydration but also maintain a balance of very important minerals like potassium and sodium along with other things within the body. On top of that, they do produce hormones which, among other things, are responsible for the regulation of blood pressure and the strengthening of bones. However, it is only too often that we fail to take into consideration that the problems with kidneys caused by these organs in the morning following seemingly innocent habits might be serious.
The experts singled out five habits that not drinking water, holding urine, taking painkillers on an empty stomach, skipping water after exercising, and skipping breakfast could be classified as.
Not Drinking Water: After a long sleep, the body is dehydrated to some extent. The practice of not drinking water in the morning and substituting it with tea or coffee can have a bad influence on the kidneys.
Holding Urine: The practice of preventing the urination urge intensively after waking up most often leads to a lot of pressure being exerted on the bladder and thus, the health of kidneys may be in jeopardy.
Taking Painkillers on an Empty Stomach: If one is into heavy use of painkillers without eating, then such a situation can speed up kidney failure; moreover, the effect is even more if it’s the first thing in the morning.
Skipping Water After Exercise: There is no denying that exercise in the morning is beneficial to health. However, not drinking enough water after that can result in the kidneys being overworked.
Skipping Breakfast: Some people think that not having breakfast is good for them. However, it may also make one reach for salty foods later in the day that will raise the amount of sodium which, in turn, is detrimental to kidney health. To be fit and healthy, the experts suggest that a person should consume protein-containing food for breakfast.
