HANGU: The local administration in Hangu has announced the return of Afghan refugees and has set a two-day period for voluntary repatriation.
Public notifications were made at Main Bazaar, Adda Mosque, and various other mosques in the area to inform residents about the Afghan refugees’ return process.
According to SHO Mahmood Khan, these announcements were made under the direction of the district administration and police to ensure a smooth implementation.
Afghan refugees have been advised to complete all necessary preparations within the two-day timeframe.
Property owners have also been instructed to ensure that their Afghan tenants vacate the rented premises promptly.
Authorities emphasized the need for cooperation from both refugees and landlords to facilitate an orderly process.
According to official data from 2023 till now almost 1.4 million Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan.

The process of repatriation of refugees in Afghanistan has accelerated, under which about 12,000 Afghan refugees returned home from Iran and Pakistan in a single day.
According Afghan High Commission for Refugees, 11,855 people from 2,102 Afghan families returned to their homeland from Iran and Pakistan in a single day. The commission said that the returning refugees are being provided with temporary housing, food, water, medical facilities, and transport services so that they can get initial assistance.
