PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has not yet won the battle against dengue, as the epidemic round is still not showing any decrease with the daily reporting of new cases.

In the present time, along with the support of the Department of Health, there are 309 active patients who are getting treated for dengue within the province. So far, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the total number of reported cases has been 5,895 every year until now.

From the start of the year until now, there have been a total of 2,038 hospitalizations due to dengue, and 5,583 people have been cured.

The disease has gained a foothold in Peshawar and the vicinity, despite the ongoing control measures in place and 41 new cases were reported in just a day. Unfortunately, the number of fatalities due to dengue this year has reached three. Moreover, five patients are being treated in Nowshera and Charsadda districts and four in Mardan.

The Health Department has made a public announcement appealing to the people to adhere to the dengue prevention protocols properly and to make sure that there are no places with stagnant water, since mosquitoes breed there and the water attracts the mosquitoes that carry the disease.

KP records another dengue fatality, health officials confirm

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has confirmed that dengue fever has claimed another life in Waziristan, raising the fatality toll to three for the current year.

Dengue fever is causing significant challenges in KP as another patient died due to the virus in the last 24 hours.

The health department’s latest data indicates that this death, reported from Waziristan, brings the total number of dengue-related fatalities in the province to three.

The rise in cases in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, and several southern districts has raised concerns.

In response to the continuous rise in dengue cases, the health department has advised citizens to take special precautions. Experts indicate that standing water in and around homes, roofs, and nearby areas serves as a primary source for mosquito breeding. Consequently, it is essential to eliminate standing water, conduct spraying in homes, use mosquito nets, and wear full-sleeved clothing.

The health department urges citizens to seek immediate testing at the onset of symptoms to enable timely treatment and help prevent the spread of dengue.
