PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is the one province of Pakistan where the civilian population has been the strongest victim of terrorism, with 117 police and 181 civilians together losing their lives in different terrorist attacks in the province this year.
A report from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) states that the area has been under severe stress for more than 295 days with a combined count of 298 deaths in total from terrorism-related events. Furthermore, 486 people have been hurt in the same attacks.
The report also states that, during the stated time frame, the security forces have carried out 2,366 intelligence-driven operations against militants in which 1,124 extremists were captured, and 368 terrorists were killed.
In addition, 6,181 suspects are reported to have been distinguished in connection with terrorism-related cases across the province.
The authorities have not only focused on counter-terrorism but have also launched an offensive against extortionists, as 1,287 extortion cases have been reported this year. Out of these cases, 209 suspects have been recognized and 52 of them have been arrested.

This data emphasizes the determination of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and security forces, who are always at the helm of the battle against terrorism.
