KASHMIR: Life in different areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is paralyzed owing to a complete shuter-down strike and protest, while the government team will hold the next round of talks with leaders of  Awami Action Committee after Friday prayers.

Earlier, there were reports of minor casualties from the two sides, but these could not be confirmed as government officials refrained from sharing anything with the media. The exact number of people detained was also not available.

In a video message, former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider said that the government has assigned the task to the committee to hold talks with members of the Awami Action Committee after Friday prayer, and they are optimistic that the government will fulfill the demands of the people of Kashmir to save this beautiful city from disorder.

The high-level government negotiation committee includes federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Amir Muqam, and other leaders, who are hopeful for the success of the talks. According to sources, Shaukat Nawaz Mir and other leaders have already reached Muzaffarabad.

This correspondent tried to contact several senior officials, but their staff said they were “busy in meetings and could not take calls”. A senior police officer answered the call after several attempts, but refused to confirm or deny the number of people detained.

It is to mentioning here that the situation turned violent when a 30-year-old shopkeeper, Mohammad Sudhir from Neelum Valley, died after being shot in Muzaffarabad. The JKJAAC alleged that the shots were fired by participants of a government-backed rally, led by the Muslim Conference’s Raja Saqib Majeed.

People are facing severe difficulties in contacting their nears and dears due to a complete internet blackout in the area. There are also difficulties in getting information from the local correspondent to update on the situation.

Federal Minister Amir Muqam said that there is consensus on many issues, and issues should be resolved through mutual understanding. Qamar Zaman Kaira said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is personally monitoring the issue, and a solution will be found through negotiations. He said that the legitimate demands of the Public Action Committee will be respected and the people will not be left alone.
