BAJAUR: The Bajaur district administration on Friday sealed 13 marble factories for causing river pollution in the Sheikh Kalay area of Khar in Bajaur.
An action was taken in response to complaints from local citizens under the agenda of the Kuli Kutchehry of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Following the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, Tehsildar Khar, Habib-ur-Rehman, conducted a surprise inspection of marble factories under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Khar.
During the inspection, it was discovered that these factories were dumping marble waste directly into the river, leading to increased water pollution and serious risks to human health. As a result, the administration immediately sealed 13 marble factories for violating environmental laws. Additionally, the factory owners have been summoned to the office of the Assistant Commissioner, Headquarters Khar, and further legal action is being pursued against them.
The district administration has stated that violations of environmental laws will not be tolerated under any circumstances and that strict measures will continue to be enforced to protect public health.
