KHAIRPUR: At least 11 people died and 10 others sustained injuries following a fatal road collision which occurred on the National Highway close to Tando Masti in Sindh’s Khairpur district, according to rescue officials.

The accident happened when a passenger coach drove at high speed to overtake a trailer which resulted in the two vehicles colliding. According to rescue sources, the impact was severe, killing several passengers on the spot. The driver and conductor of the coach were also among the deceased.

The bus was en route from Punjab to Karachi when the accident occurred. Medical personnel transported all deceased individuals and injured passengers to Civil Hospital Khairpur for treatment and legal procedures.

The Inspector General of Sindh Police instructed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur to establish immediate police deployment at the accident location. The authorities received orders to manage rescue operations and relief activities which needed to occur at the crash site and its surrounding areas.

The incident follows one day after another fatal accident which took place close to Kathore, where 13 people died after an oil tanker crashed into a passenger bus. Police reported that the earlier accident occurred when a speeding bus entered the road from the wrong direction and collided with an oncoming oil tanker, causing multiple vehicles to be damaged.

The latest tragedy highlights growing concerns over road safety and reckless driving on national highways.
